Peter Boice and Chip
Booth met in Idaho's Wood River Valley near the resort of Sun
Valley in 2002 and they have been playing music together ever
since. The band was formed from a desire to perform
Peter's original songs, and originally included Robin Eisenman
on guitar. Robin left the Valley years ago but Chip and
Peter continue to perform as the core duo, and also play with
instrument builder Lawrence
Smart on fiddle and mandolin. With Peter's folk sound
and style as the foundation, the group plays a wide variety of
music including instrumental applachian fiddle tunes, songs by
modern songer/songwriters, pop hits by the Beatles and Neil
Young, as well as classic jazz and swing. With such a
diverse musical
range the group can fit into most any
situation.
Peter and Chip perform with a
variety of acoustic instruments including the guitar, mandolin,
octave mandolin, 10 string mandola, clawhammer and tenor banjos. Lawrence
also adds his fiddle to the mix on a regular basis, and they
occasionaly perform with an upright bass player as well.
Audiences commonly become intrigued by tonalities they do not
hear often. The unique combination of sounds makes even
familiar songs sound fresh and new.
